You can find a video of the process here.
Things you need to do before you start bleaching your hair:
Step 1: Wear old clothes because you don’t want to ruin your cute ones ofc :)
Step 2: Put on your gloves.
Step 3: Apply vaseline around your hairline, neck, and wrists as well. The bleach mixture may cause itching, irritation, or a rash if it comes in contact with your skin.
Step 4: Cut out pieces of aluminum foil for covering the bleached portions of your hair to provide them with the heat required for the product to develop and react.
To start with the bleaching process, do as follows:
Step 5: Mix the Blonder Powder and the Creme Developer (Vol 30 - 9%) in a 1:2 ratio respectively. With our bleach pack, you can mix all the content of both the sachets together in one go as they’re pre-divided in the required ratio.
Hack #1: Empty the developer first, then add the powder slowly while continuously stirring the mixture with the brush provided to avoid lumps in the mixture.
Step 6: Time to perform a strand test now. Apply the mixture to a small section of your hair and let it stay for about 20 minutes. If after that you do not notice anything abnormal, go ahead and apply the mixture to the remaining hair. For a detailed instruction guide, click here.
Step 7: Start covering the portions of your hair that you wish to lighten up. Section your hair as needed. Hold a piece of aluminum foil underneath the strands you wish to lighten. Take a generous amount of the bleach mixture on your brush and apply it in a vertical stroke over the hair. Once you’ve applied the product evenly, neatly wrap the foil piece around the hair.
Hack #2: Apply a small amount of bleach on the foil piece and then place it underneath your strands to ensure that they stick to the foil. This will make them easier to handle.
Hack #3: Move the brush in a zig-zag manner to make sure that you do not leave any strands in between and cover all the portions uniformly.
Step 8: Just rope in a friend at this point, because a friend who helps you color your hair is always a green flag, and c’mon who’re we kidding, a helping hand would be the need of the hour at this point. Get them to wear the gloves too and cover up all the portions of your hair that you want to pre-lighten.
Hack #4: After all the foil pieces are wrapped, add a few strokes of the bleach mix right above the edges where the foil begins in an upwards motion. It’ll ensure a smooth blending process with the hair that you do not bleach.
Step 9: Now you need to wait for at least 30 minutes. Do something fun with your friend, or just bleach their hair too! Watch your favorite movie, grab your favorite snacks, read a novel you love. You just need to kill some time before you see your hair transformation!
Step 10: Check if you’ve achieved the desired base level. For cool colors, you will also have to tone your hair using a purple shampoo or a blue shampoo to get rid of the brassy undertones. Don’t leave the bleach for more than 60 minutes. If you are satisfied, then wash your hair with shampoo ONLY and use cold water.
Step 11: Dry your hair completely and move on to the colorful part! Color up your hair with your favorite hair dyes and see here for the instructions.
